On Tuesday the Hawks revealed that the post mortem had been performed.They said it was up to the family to decide whether the results would be made known to the public.

Relatives of former ANC Youth League secretary-general Sindiso Magaqa are still deciding whether it’s appropriate to make his post mortem results public.

Magaqa’s uncle, Dr Vuma Magaqa, said at the time the SunTeam contacted him, the Hawks had not yet told the family the results.

He said he and his family were taking the issue very seriously and would hold a meeting to discuss it.

“Everyone in the family wants to know what killed Sindiso, since it was speculated that he was poisoned in hospital.

“As soon as the Hawks hand the results to us, we will hold a special meeting to review them.

“We also understand there are other people in the area who want to know the results.”

Magaqa, who was a councillor in Umzimkhulu, southern KZN, died in hospital on Monday after being shot with two other ANC councillors in July.

On Tuesday, Hawks spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi confirmed their investigation would look into rumours that Magaqa had been poisoned in hospital.
