Arthur Did Not Attack Cici, says dancer

R&B singer Cici’s dancer has rubbished the artist’s claims that her then boyfriend, kwaito king Arthur Mafokate, dragged and choked Cici in her presence until she bled from her v@gina during their first domestic violence incident last year.

Hlengiwe Makhoba, who has been Cici’s dancer for almost two years, also said Mafokate sustained injuries as a result of the altercation between the two.

She said Cici appeared to have prepared for a fight with Mafokate, also known as Lolo, when the two women wolfed down a copious volume of a mixture of Oros and vodka a few hours before her fight with kwaito music hitmaker.

Speaking to Sunday World this week, Makhoba said she visited the couple’s love nest in Midrand, north of Joburg.

“When we were drinking she kept on saying ‘ngifuna amaphone wakhe lo’ [I want to take his phones],” she said.

Makhoba said that after knocking off the bottle, Cici went to sleep upstairs and she went to lay her head in the guest room on the ground floor.

Makhoba said at around 3am, she heard Mafokate screaming for her help.

“He said ‘Hlengiwe, Hlengiwe’ and before I could even respond I heard the door to my room violently opening. I saw Cici holding Lolo’s two phones – one in the left hand and the other in her right hand.

“I could see that Lolo had sustained scratches to his shoulder and hands. Lolo said to me ‘Hlengiwe please talk to Cici, she doesn’t want to give me my phones. She says she wants to throw my phones in the swimming pool. Can you see what she has done to me’, pointing to the injuries he sustained.”

Makhoba said she begged Cici to calm down and took the phones from her and gave them to Mafokate who went back upstairs.

“Cici and I then walked outside and sat at the swimming pool area where I calmed her down and told her that they should resolve their problems without resorting to violence.”

She said that when the sun rose, they walked to the Runaway singer’s apartment in the same area where they sat and talked about the matter.

“I was surprised when I read in your paper last week that Lolo dragged and choked her until she bled and left her on the floor of the room I was sleeping in. She might have bled from her private parts but I didn’t see any blood. Most importantly, Lolo didn’t drag and choke her in the room I was sleeping in. It’s not true, I really don’t know why she said that.”

Makhoba said she would repeat her statement in court if called as a witness. “I know that she might fire me for saying this but I have to tell the truth as a matter of principle.”

Mafokate referred questions to his manager Brian Mokoena who declined to comment. “Out of respect for the legal process that is unfolding, we are unfortunately unable to comment at this stage, suffice to say the truth shall come out eventually,” he said.

Cici declined to comment.
