South African jazz legend Ray Phiri is being laid to rest in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.

Phiri died on Wednesday, 12 July at the age of 70.

The musician suffered from lung cancer.   Phiri has been granted a special government funeral.

The service is currently underway at the Mbombela Stadium.
