A number of illegal squatters have been evicted from the Fattis Mansions on Harrison Street near Bank City in Johannesburg CBD

This building was once a stylish block of flats but is now a run down building with no functioning lights or water.

One woman with a disabled baby on her back said that she was allegedly sexually abused by the red ants and they took her ID book as well as R400 from her breast which she was saving for baby food.

Another evicted resident said “we don’t know where we going to sleep tonight as we are homeless and we also have disabled people here.”

The eviction is said to have been authorised by Joburg City Council.
